Modest Addition Transforms Former Hunting Lodge

Built in the 1930's as a hunting lodge, the house was beautifully maintained and had lots of charm. It also was across the road from a lake so the lake views were an important perk. However a single bathroom upstairs shared by 3 bedrooms including the master was wearing very thin especially as the two children ( a girl and a boy) got older.

The house also had a small living room shared with a small dining area which faced the back of the property not the lake. Thus we embarked on the task to add a mudroom entry from the back of the property, a great room facing both the lake and accessable to the back patio, a larger dining area and then most importantly, a master suite with dressing room and proper master bath.

This design emerged as a 3 story small tower that also included a walk out basement play room, powder room and laundry area. A lovely porch off the great room made lake-viewing truly pleasurable and also provided a covered area for storing the canoe!
